Dubai New Year 2027 from India: Cost, Fireworks and What to Book

What is not announced yet, as of 12 Oct 2026: Emaar's plans for the Burj Khalifa show on 31 Dec 2026, the Dubai Shopping Festival 2026–27 dates, and the RTA's New Year transport plan. Below, we separate what is confirmed from what happened last year, so you can plan without guessing.

How much does a Dubai New Year trip from India cost?

These are regular-date prices. None of these trips has a dated 29 Dec to 2 Jan departure published yet, so year-end prices are quoted on enquiry with live flight and hotel rates. Travel insurance is not included, and GST and TCS are shown in the written quote.

When is the Dubai Shopping Festival 2026–27?

Not announced yet. On 12 Oct 2026, Visit Dubai's festival page carried no dates, and the 2026 retail calendar from Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), as reported by Time Out Dubai, listed only the end of the last festival. Several travel sites print dates for this season; none of them comes from DFRE, so don't book around them.

For context, the last edition ran for 38 days, from 5 Dec 2025 to 11 Jan 2026 (Gulf News, citing DFRE), so it covered New Year. If the next one follows a similar pattern it will overlap your trip, but treat that as likely, not confirmed. The same DFRE calendar puts UAE National Day celebrations, with fireworks, from 30 Nov to 3 Dec 2026.

Where can you watch the New Year fireworks in Dubai?

Emaar's New Year website still showed last year's information when we checked on 12 Oct 2026, so plans for 31 Dec 2026 are not out. This is how last year worked:

Gulf News's list of viewing spots last year also covered The Beach at JBR and Bluewaters, Palm Jumeirah and Dubai Marina, and Al Seef on the Creek. Dubai Municipality kept public beaches for families only that night (Dubai Eye).

Is Dubai at New Year good for kids and older parents?

Yes, if you avoid the busiest Downtown hours.

• Road closures start early. Last year closures around Downtown began at 4 pm and spread through the evening, with a partial closure of Sheikh Zayed Road from 11 pm (RTA, reported by Gulf News, 26 Dec 2025). Emaar asked visitors to arrive before the closures, and said taxis would run only until they began.
• The Metro is the way in. Last year the Metro ran non-stop for 43 hours over New Year. The RTA has not announced this year's plan; last year's was published on 26 December.
• A gentler option. Global Village's countdowns last year included one for India at 10:30 pm, which is midnight in India. Families can celebrate Indian midnight with the grandparents and be back at the hotel before the Downtown crowds move. Last year Expo City Dubai also held an early 9 pm countdown for children (Gulf News).

What should you book before you fly?

1. Flights from Ahmedabad. Christmas Day, Friday 25 Dec 2026, is a central government holiday (DoPT order of 3 Jul 2025), so 25 to 27 December is a long weekend, and 1 Jan 2027 is a Friday. Fix your dates early, because every year-end price we quote depends on the seats left.
2. The visa. Most Indians need one arranged before travel; see below.
3. Your fireworks plan. A Burj Park ticket or a Downtown table once Emaar releases them, or a free spot you reach early by Metro.
4. The Burj Khalifa, on another evening. At the Top tickets start at ₹4,392 per person for the sunrise entry; other times cost more. Book once your dates are fixed.
5. A dinner cruise. The Dubai Marina dhow dinner cruise starts at ₹2,510 per person for the lower deck without transfer, with a vegetarian and non-vegetarian buffet. That is a regular-evening price; ask us about 31 December.

What is the weather like in Dubai in December and January?

Mild by day and cool at night. Figures from the UAE's National Center of Meteorology, published by the World Meteorological Organization, give average daily highs of 26.2°C in December and 24.0°C in January, with average lows of 15.4°C and 13.7°C, and about two days of rain in each month. Pack a light jacket or shawl for the fireworks and any evening in the desert.

Can Indians get a Dubai visa on arrival?

Only some. Indians with an ordinary passport valid for six months qualify if they hold a valid US visa or green card, a UK or EU visa or residence permit, or a residence permit from Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea or Singapore, as Emirates lists them (checked 12 Oct 2026).
