Dubai Visa for Indians 2026: Types, Fees, Documents, Visa on Arrival

Indians need a visa to visit Dubai, arranged before travel unless they qualify for visa on arrival. A 30-day single-entry tourist visa carries a government fee of AED 200 plus 5% VAT on GDRFA Dubai's service card, or costs US$90 through Emirates, and Indians holding a valid US visa or green card, a UK or EU visa or residence permit, or a residence permit from six other countries can get a 14-day visa on arrival instead (all checked 12 Oct 2026).
Every rule below comes from the UAE government portal (u.ae), GDRFA Dubai, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) and Emirates, checked on 12 Oct 2026. Visa rules change, so check again before you book.
Do Indians need a visa for Dubai?
Yes. India is not on Emirates' list of nationalities whose passports are stamped with a free visit visa at Dubai International, so you need a visa or a qualifying document before you fly. Your passport must be valid for at least six months from the date you enter the UAE (u.ae).
Note that the UAE's embassies do not issue tourist visas. The UAE government portal says you apply through a UAE airline, a licensed travel agent or tour operator, or a hotel, which applies to the visa authorities on your behalf, or online through ICP or GDRFA Dubai.
What types of Dubai visa can Indians get?
Fees are given only where an official or airline page states them, as checked on 12 Oct 2026. Agents and VFS add service charges.
| Visa | Stay | Entries | Fee stated (12 Oct 2026) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Transit, 48 hours | 48 hours | Single, not extendable | US$10 through Emirates |
| Transit, 96 hours | 96 hours | Single, not extendable | US$49 through Emirates |
| Tourist, 30 days | 30 days from arrival | Single | AED 200 + 5% VAT (GDRFA government fee); US$90 through Emirates |
| Tourist, 30 days | 30 days from first entry | Multiple | US$136 through Emirates |
| Tourist, 60 days | 60 days from arrival | Single | AED 300 + 5% VAT (GDRFA); US$177 through Emirates |
| Tourist, 60 days | 60 days from first entry | Multiple | US$231 through Emirates |
| Visa on arrival, for eligible Indians | 14 days | Single | US$63 pre-approved through Emirates; AED 250 + 5% VAT + AED 20 on GDRFA's online service |
| Visa on arrival, 60-day option | 60 days | Single | US$141.36 pre-approved through Emirates |
| Five-year multiple-entry tourist visa | 90 days per visit, extendable by 90 | Multiple | Not stated on the pages we checked |
The five-year visa needs a bank balance of US$4,000 or its equivalent over the last six months, UAE-valid health insurance for 180 days and a return or onward ticket (u.ae). Emirates' tourist visas can be extended for US$230 each, at its airport office only.
Can Indians get a visa on arrival in Dubai?
Yes, if you hold one of these, valid for at least six months, with an ordinary Indian passport also valid for six months. This is Emirates' list for Indian nationals, checked 12 Oct 2026:
- United States: a green card, or a US visa.
- United Kingdom: a residence permit, or any UK visa, including a digital e-visa.
- European Union: a residence permit, or any visa issued by an EU member state.
- Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea or Singapore: a residence permit. A Singapore student visa does not count.
The stay is 14 days, or 60 days on the longer permit, single entry. The scheme is built for arrival, but we suggest pre-approval before you fly: through Emirates' Manage your booking if you are flying Emirates, or on GDRFA Dubai's online service, which lists a completion time of 48 hours.
The UK question. Business Standard reported on 1 Jul 2026 that updated ICP guidelines will remove eligibility for Indians whose only qualifying document is a UK residence visa, with no start date announced. Emirates' page still listed UK documents on 12 Oct 2026. If a UK document is all you hold, get pre-approval or a tourist visa before you fly, rather than relying on the counter.

How do Indians apply for a Dubai tourist visa?
There are three routes.
- Through your airline. Emirates passengers apply in Manage your booking once the ticket is issued. The flights into and out of Dubai must be Emirates flights on one booking, you must apply at least four international working days before arrival, and VFS Global processing fees are added. Emirates also lists a VFS Global centre in Ahmedabad, at Shree Balaji Agora Mall in Motera, open 9 am to 3 pm, Monday to Friday, except public holidays. The UAE portal lists Etihad and flydubai as offering visas too, with flying on them as one of their conditions.
- Through a licensed travel agent or hotel. GDRFA Dubai's single-entry tourist visa needs a UAE tourism business as the sponsor, and only accredited tourism offices can issue it. Travel agencies in India arrange it with a UAE tour operator, as the UAE portal describes, and the portal advises checking that an agent is genuine before sending any documents.
- Online with ICP or GDRFA. For the visa-on-arrival pre-approval and the five-year tourist visa, you can apply yourself, logging in with UAE Pass or an account.
On our Dubai trips the UAE visa is handled by us, including on Dubai Shopping Festival Week from ₹44,999 per person, Dubai: Desert & Sky from ₹48,999, Dubai Family Funfest from ₹58,999 and the Dubai + Abu Dhabi Grand Twin from ₹66,999, each with return flights from Ahmedabad. GST and TCS are shown in the written quote.
What documents do Indians need for a Dubai visa?
From Emirates' and GDRFA Dubai's requirements:
- Passport: valid for at least six months, machine-readable; Emirates does not accept handwritten passports.
- Colour copies: of your passport, and of its outer cover page.
- Photograph: in colour, on a plain light background, face centred, neutral expression, eyes clearly visible, no tinted glasses.
- Hotel booking: confirmed for your whole stay, or a relative's tenancy contract if you are staying with family.
- Return ticket: Emirates says its dates must match your hotel dates.
- Health insurance: valid in the UAE (GDRFA).
- Proof of relationship: for family members, such as a birth or marriage certificate.
- For visa on arrival: a copy of your qualifying US, UK, EU or other visa or residence permit.
Business Today reported in December 2024 that applicants were also being asked for bank statements for the last three months, so keep them ready.
How long does a Dubai visa take?
GDRFA Dubai lists 48 hours for its single-entry tourist visa, and ICP lists two days for visa issuance. Emirates asks for at least four international working days before arrival. A tourist visa must be used within 60 days of issue. Apply once your flights and hotel are confirmed, since both go with the application, and leave a buffer in case extra documents are requested.
Why do Dubai visa applications get refused?
A refusal may come without a reason. These are the causes named in Emirates' rules and in press reports:
- Mismatched documents. Hotel dates that differ from the return ticket, which Emirates requires to match.
- Unclear copies or form errors. Gulf News (2020) lists unclear copies, human error and handwritten passports among common reasons, along with a previous visa in your name.
- A short passport. Under six months' validity on the day you enter.
- Missing proof of stay or return. In December 2024, Business Today reported tighter checks on hotel bookings and return tickets, with approvals falling from nearly 99% to about 94 to 95%, citing the Times of India.
- A criminal record, also on Gulf News's list.
Fees are not refunded once an application is processed (Emirates). If you stay past your visa, ICP fines AED 50 a day, so plan your return flight inside the visa.
How we help
We arrange the visa with the rest of the trip, so the hotel dates, the return ticket and the application match. If you need help on landing, we can add a Dubai airport pickup from ₹2,981 per vehicle, or the Marhaba meet and greet from ₹2,981 per person (it helps you through the airport, but does not replace the visa). See our Dubai guide, and start with a message.
