North Island, South Island or both: what do the trips include?
North Island in 6 days: from ₹1,69,999
The shortest and gentlest trip. Auckland first, then a boat through the glowworm cave at Waitomo. In Rotorua you see the Pohutu geyser at Te Puia, a Maori cultural evening with a hangi cooked in the ground, Wai-O-Tapu's coloured pools and a soak at the Polynesian Spa. Hobbiton can be added on the drive back. Most days are coach sightseeing with short walks, which suits parents.
South Island in 9 or 10 days: from ₹2,39,999
The Grand Drive covers about 1,500 km from Christchurch to Queenstown: Lake Tekapo, the flat Hooker Valley Track towards Aoraki Mount Cook (about 10 km return), Wanaka, the Haast Pass, the Franz Josef glacier valley and a Milford Sound day. The Honeymoon covers less ground on purpose, with lakefront rooms and a free day in Wanaka.
Both islands in 12 days: from ₹2,99,999
Auckland, Waitomo and Rotorua first, a flight south to Christchurch, then Tekapo, Mt Cook, Wanaka, Queenstown and Milford, with one free day. With two weeks of leave, this covers the country.
Queenstown Adrenaline Week: from ₹1,99,999
Built for friends, with the bungy, the jet boat, the Nevis Swing and a day held for a weather-dependent tandem skydive. We don't advise it for seniors. Optional adventure add-ons are listed as extras on our New Zealand trips, so ask us which activities are in the price for your dates.
How much do the NZ visa and tourism levy add?
Indians need a visitor visa for New Zealand. Immigration New Zealand's visitor visa page (immigration.govt.nz, checked October 2026) lists the cost from NZD 441, and its Fees Guide (May 2026) breaks that into an application fee of NZD 300, an immigration levy of NZD 41 and the International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL) of NZD 100 per person. Rupee figures use about ₹53.4 to the New Zealand dollar (ExchangeRate-API, 16 Oct 2026); the exact amount depends on the day you pay.
| Who applies | Fee | In rupees, about |
|---|---|---|
| One adult | NZD 441 | ₹23,500 |
| A couple on one application | NZD 541 | ₹28,900 |
| Each extra person on the same application | IVL of NZD 100, unless exempt | ₹5,300 |
What else Immigration New Zealand says, checked October 2026:
- From 1 Oct 2026, visitor visa applications must be made online.
- 80% are decided within 2 weeks, and September to March is the busiest period. Our trip pages suggest allowing 4 to 6 weeks.
- The fee and levies, including the IVL, are not refunded if the visa is declined.
- You show at least NZD 1,000 a month, or NZD 400 a month if your accommodation is prepaid, as it is on a package.
- Your passport must be valid for at least 3 months after you leave New Zealand.
We file the visa for you, and the government fee is shown in your written quote.
How much do Milford Sound and Queenstown activities add?
Milford Sound is already in four of the five trips. For your own South Island days, these are our prices on 16 Oct 2026.
| Activity | From (per person) | Length | Good to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Milford Sound: The Fiord in the Rain | ₹9,999 | Full day | Coach from Queenstown or Te Anau, a cruise of about 2 hours, a light lunch and national park entry |
| Queenstown: The Shotover Canyons | ₹7,999 | 2 hours | Jet boat with return transfers; under-15s ride with an adult |
| Queenstown: Kawarau Bridge Bungee | ₹14,999 | 3 hours | One 43-metre jump; transport to the meeting point is extra |
The Milford day runs around 12 hours door to door from Queenstown. The road can close for avalanche risk in winter, and our trip is refunded if it does. Adding the jet boat and the bungy to a Queenstown stay comes to ₹22,998 per person.
Which months suit New Zealand?
New Zealand's seasons run opposite to India's. NIWA, the national climate agency, says on its climate overview (niwa.co.nz, checked October 2026) that the warmest month is usually January or February and the coldest is usually July, that the West Coast of the South Island is the wettest region, and that most snow falls in the mountains.
| Months | Season there | What it means for your trip |
|---|---|---|
| Dec to Feb | Summer | Long days; visa processing is busiest from September to March, so apply early |
| Mar to May | Autumn | Cooler days; pack warm for the South Island |
| Jun to Aug | Winter | Snow in the mountains; the Milford road can close for avalanche risk |
| Sep to Nov | Spring | Changeable weather; pack layers |
For Indian families, Diwali falls in New Zealand's spring and Christmas in its summer. May and June school holidays fall in late autumn and early winter, when the North Island trip is the simpler choice.
What does a couple or a honeymoon trip cost?
Multiply the per-person price by the number of travellers. Children's prices depend on age and on whether they need their own bed, so we price them in your quote. These totals are before GST and TCS.
| Who is travelling | Trip | Total from |
|---|---|---|
| Couple | North Island: Fire & Water, 6 days | ₹3,39,998 |
| Couple | NZ Honeymoon: The Slow South, 9 days | ₹4,79,998 |
| Couple | South Island Grand Drive, 10 days | ₹4,99,998 |
| Four adults | North Island: Fire & Water, 6 days | ₹6,79,996 |
| Four adults | Signature: Both Islands, 12 days | ₹11,99,996 |
A couple's visa on one application adds NZD 541, about ₹28,900. The Honeymoon is paced for two: a private day at the Gibbston cellar doors, a Milford cruise in the quieter part of the boat, a helicopter picnic on a snow shelf (weather permitting) and Tekapo's hot pools under a dark-sky reserve.
Is New Zealand easy for vegetarian food and parents?
Yes, with a little planning. Breakfast is included every day, and other meals are on you unless the itinerary lists them. Tell us about vegetarian or Jain meals when you enquire, and your trip captain checks each meal stop before you pay. Our trip pages also say to declare all food on arrival, because biosecurity checks are strict; if parents carry theplas, khakhra or pickles, declare them.
For parents, the North Island trip suits best. The Grand Drive has long driving days and one flat 10 km walk. Parents are not dependants for the visa, so they apply on their own application; as a couple they can apply together for NZD 541.

Can elderly parents do a New Zealand trip? Yes, on the right trip. The North Island trip is mostly coach sightseeing with short walks, and the Grand Drive suits parents happy with long car days. Parents apply for their own visitor visa rather than as dependants.
