Northeast India Trip from Ahmedabad: 4–7 Days from ₹15,999

A Northeast India trip from Ahmedabad costs from ₹15,999 per person for 4 days in Shillong and Dawki, and from ₹18,999 to ₹29,999 per person for our Kaziranga, Ziro, Meghalaya and Tawang trips, each with return flights from Ahmedabad to Guwahati (prices checked 16 Oct 2026). A Dawki clear-water day from Shillong adds ₹2,999 per person.
All five trips include return flights from Ahmedabad to Guwahati, hotels and homestays with breakfast, and local guides; four also list a trip captain and all permits, which we file for you. GST and TCS are shown in your written quote; TCS applies only to trips abroad, so a Northeast quote shows GST alone.
Prices checked 16 Oct 2026 from our live trip pages. Permit rules checked with the Itanagar district administration, the Arunachal Pradesh eILP portal and MyGov, Kaziranga's season with ThePrint, and Meghalaya's seasons with Meghalaya Tourism, in October 2026.
How much does a Northeast India trip from Ahmedabad cost?

What the price covers
Four of the trips list return flights from Ahmedabad (Guwahati), hotels and homestays with breakfast and dinner, all permits filed by us, and local guides with a trip captain; lunches, safari fees where the quote does not list them, and personal expenses are extra. Meghalaya: Roots & Rain lists daily breakfast and three dinners, all treks with local guides, caving gear, river boating and an AC vehicle; lunches on trek days and a personal porter at Nongriat are extra. None has fixed departure dates, so each is priced for your dates.
Meghalaya, Assam or Arunachal: which trip suits you?
Meghalaya: waterfalls, clear rivers, root bridges
The Shillong–Dawki Weekender is the short version: the drive up from Guwahati to Shillong, a day at Dawki and Mawlynnong, and a day at Cherrapunji for Nohkalikai, the Seven Sisters falls and the short, lit Mawsmai cave. It fits a long weekend with two days of leave. Meghalaya: Roots & Rain adds the trek to the double-decker living root bridge at Nongriat and caving at Krem Mawmluh. Meghalaya Tourism says the Nongriat walk starts near Tyrna village, 30 to 45 minutes by taxi from Cherrapunji, goes down roughly 3,000 to 3,500 stone steps, and is best done with a local guide.
Dawki Clear-Water Boating & Caves is a full day from Shillong from ₹2,999 per person, with the rowboat on the Umngot, Mawlynnong, the India–Bangladesh border viewpoint and Mawsmai cave. Meghalaya Tourism puts Dawki about 80 km from Shillong. Our trip page explains that the river is clear in the dry months, roughly November to April; in the monsoon it runs green and fast.
Assam: Kaziranga's rhinos
Kaziranga: Wild Assam Safari is a 4-day trip with two jeep safaris in different ranges, a stay on a tea estate, a tea tasting and an Assamese thali night. Your quote shows whether the park's safari fees are inside the price. The drive from Guwahati is long, about five hours, so the first day is mostly travel. It is the easiest Northeast trip for families, because you stay seated in the jeep.
Arunachal Pradesh: Ziro and Tawang
Ziro is a flat valley of rice fields and Apatani villages, walked with local hosts, with a cycle loop and a day in Talley Valley's forest. Tawang is a longer mountain journey: Bomdila, Dirang, the high road over Sela Pass, the Jaswant Garh war memorial and Tawang Monastery, with a weather-dependent day to the high lakes near the border. Both need an Inner Line Permit, below.
Which permits do you need for Arunachal Pradesh?
Indian visitors from outside Arunachal Pradesh need an Inner Line Permit (ILP) to enter the state (Itanagar district administration, checked October 2026), so both Ziro and Tawang need one. The state's online service is the Tourist eILP, applied for at eilp.arunachal.gov.in. A MyGov post on the service (February 2024) gives the fee as ₹300 for stays of up to 3 days and ₹500 for 4 to 14 days, with a maximum stay of 14 days on the tourist eILP, and says children under 14 do not need their own permit but must travel with an adult. The eILP portal did not show fees when we checked in October 2026, so check the current fee before booking.
On our Ziro and Tawang trips, we file the permit for everyone with your ID, and it is in the price. On every trip, your quote lists the permits it needs. Carry a government photo ID on all of them; our Dawki day asks for one.
When is Kaziranga open, and which months suit each state?
Kaziranga closes each monsoon. For the 2026–27 season it reopened on 3 Oct 2026 at the central Kohora range, with jeep safaris from that day in two slots, 7:30 to 10 am and 1:30 to 3 pm; elephant safaris were expected to restart within about 20 days (ThePrint, PTI report, 3 Oct 2026). Our Kaziranga trip page gives November to April as its season.
| State | Comfortable months | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Assam (Kaziranga) | November to April | Our trip season; the park reopened for 2026–27 on 3 Oct |
| Meghalaya | October to May | Meghalaya Tourism calls June to September the monsoon, with heavy rain and landslide warnings, and October to March best for the Nongriat trek |
| Arunachal (Ziro and Tawang) | From mid-October | The monsoon normally withdraws from Arunachal, Assam and Meghalaya by about mid-October (IMD); Tawang's high roads depend on the weather in winter |
Meghalaya Tourism also says winter is its busy season and advises booking stays early. If you want the clear-water photographs at Dawki, go between November and April. For Tawang in winter, expect cold nights and roads that depend on the weather, and keep a spare day in your plan.
Is the Northeast easy with elderly parents or children?
Some trips are, some are not. Our trip pages are frank about it:
- Kaziranga: good for parents and children. The tracks are bumpy, but you stay seated in the jeep. Safaris start at first light, which is early for young children.
- Shillong–Dawki Weekender: fine for most parents. Days are mostly in the car with short walks at viewpoints; the Dawki boat and Mawsmai cave need steadier footing.
- Ziro: possible for fit parents. The valley is flat for cycling and village walks, but the forest day has muddy trails.
- Meghalaya: Roots & Rain: not for seniors. The Nongriat trek is about 3,500 steps down and the same back up, and the cave needs sure footing; it suits older children rather than toddlers.
- Tawang: not advised for seniors. The road crosses Sela Pass at high altitude with long drive days, and suits older children better than young ones.
For food, Tawang's trip page lists vegetarian meals, and the Meghalaya trips offer them on request. Tell us about Jain meals when you enquire, and we check them with the hotels and homestays before you pay. Mobile network is patchy outside the big towns, so download offline maps.
What does a family of four pay?
Multiply the per-person price by the number of travellers. Children are priced in your quote by age and bed. These totals are before GST, and every trip includes return flights from Ahmedabad.
| Who is travelling | Trip | Total from |
|---|---|---|
| Family of four adults | Shillong–Dawki Weekender, 4 days | ₹63,996 |
| Family of four adults | Kaziranga: Wild Assam Safari, 4 days | ₹75,996 |
| Family of four adults | Meghalaya: Roots & Rain, 6 days | ₹1,11,996 |
| Couple | Ziro Valley Vibes, 5 days | ₹47,998 |
| Couple | Tawang: The Himalayan Frontier, 7 days | ₹59,998 |
| Family of four, add-on | Dawki clear-water day from Shillong | ₹11,996 |
