Long Weekends 2027 in India: Leave Plan, Trips from ₹8,999

Long Weekends 2027 in India: Leave Plan, Trips from ₹8,999

The 2027 central government holiday list gives four ready-made three-day weekends (Good Friday, Mahavir Jayanti, Bakrid and Diwali) and four more that need just one day of leave (Republic Day, Holi, Ram Navami and Buddha Purnima); our short trips from Ahmedabad for those breaks start at ₹8,999 per person, and our trips abroad at ₹38,999 per person (prices checked 16 Oct 2026).

The Gujarat trips include AC road transport from Ahmedabad, stays, breakfast and dinner. The trips abroad include return flights from Ahmedabad, hotels with daily breakfast, transfers and the visa handled by us where one applies. GST and TCS are shown in your written quote.

Prices checked 16 Oct 2026 from our live trip pages. Holiday dates checked with the Department of Personnel and Training's office memorandum of 16 Jul 2026 on dopt.gov.in, and visa rules with each country's official site, in October 2026.

How many long weekends are there in 2027?

Eight, if your office follows the central government list and has Saturdays and Sundays off. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) published the 2027 list in its office memorandum dated 16 Jul 2026 (checked October 2026). Three things to know before you count:

  • The full list of 17 gazetted holidays is for central government offices in Delhi and New Delhi. Central offices elsewhere keep 14 fixed holidays and choose 3 more from a list of 12, such as Holi, Janmashtami and Makar Sankranti.
  • No substitute holiday is given when a holiday falls on a weekend. In 2027, five holiday dates do: Independence Day and Milad-un-Nabi (both Sun 15 Aug), Gandhi Jayanti (Sat 2 Oct), Dussehra (Sat 9 Oct), Guru Nanak's Birthday (Sun 14 Nov) and Christmas (Sat 25 Dec).
  • Id-ul-Fitr, Bakrid, Muharram and Milad-un-Nabi can move with the sighting of the moon.

State governments, banks and private companies publish their own lists, so check yours against the dates below.

How many days of leave turn a holiday into a longer break?

Two clusters do most of the work: Holi and Good Friday in one March week, and four holidays between mid-April and late May.

Which short trips from Ahmedabad fit a 3-day weekend?

All three go by AC road from Ahmedabad.

TripLengthFrom (per person)Couple, fromGood to know
Statue of Unity & the Narmada2 days, 1 night₹8,999₹17,998The statue is closed on Mondays
Rann of Kutch: The White Desert3 days, 2 nights₹12,999₹25,998At its best November to February
Somnath & Dwarka: The Coastal Temples4 days, 3 nights₹18,999₹37,998Needs a 4-day break
  • Statue of Unity: Gujarat Tourism lists it as closed on Mondays, so on the Mahavir Jayanti and Bakrid weekends go on the Saturday and Sunday. Our trip page adds that the viewing gallery is capped daily and sells out on weekends and holidays, so tell us your dates early.
  • Rann of Kutch: the Republic Day and Uttarayan breaks fall in the season our trip page gives. Nights in December and January drop close to freezing, so carry a real jacket, and carry a government photo ID for the Rann permit, which is included.
  • Somnath and Dwarka: pure vegetarian breakfasts and dinners; it fits the Republic Day and Ram Navami breaks.

Which trips abroad fit a 4- or 5-day break?

Each of these includes return flights from Ahmedabad. Couple totals are before GST and TCS.

TripLengthFrom (per person)Couple, from
Singapore Foodie Weekend3 days, 2 nights₹38,999₹77,998
Sri Lanka Quick Weekender4 days, 3 nights₹38,999₹77,998
Georgia Express: Tbilisi & Wine Weekend4 days, 3 nights₹49,999₹99,998

Turkey Express: Istanbul Long Weekend4 days, 3 nights₹54,999₹1,09,998

All five run 3 or 4 days, so each fits a 4-day break such as Republic Day, Ram Navami to Mahavir Jayanti, or Diwali with a day of leave. The two 9-day breaks leave room for a rest day either side. Children are priced in your quote.

How early should you plan each break, including visas?

The visa sets the timeline. What each official site said in October 2026:

  • Sri Lanka: from 25 May 2026, Indians get the tourist ETA free of charge, valid for 30 days with double entry. It must still be obtained before arrival, at eta.gov.lk.
  • Singapore: Indians need a visa, applied for through an authorised visa agent or a Singapore Overseas Mission, not at the airport (ica.gov.sg). Our Singapore trips include the visa, handled by us.
  • Maldives: a tourist visa is granted on arrival, with confirmed return tickets and a prepaid booking. Every traveller, including children, files a free Traveller Declaration on the IMUGA portal within 96 hours before arrival (immigration.gov.mv). The pages we opened give no fee or length of stay, so check before booking.
  • Georgia: Indian ordinary passports need a visa, and a decision takes 5 to 30 calendar days depending on the category (georgia.travel). Holders of a valid visa or residence permit from some other countries may enter without one under the Georgian government's Ordinance No. 256; the list changes, so check before booking.
  • Turkey: an e-visa is available only to Indians holding a valid Schengen, US, UK or Ireland visa or residence permit; everyone else applies at a Turkish embassy or consulate (Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs). Check the fee on the official e-visa site before paying.

For the Gujarat trips, carry a government photo ID; no visa is needed. Once your leave is approved, ask us to price the break; your quote shows flights and hotels for your exact dates.

What about Gujarat holidays such as Uttarayan?

Gujarat's own 2027 holiday list was not on the General Administration Department's website (gad.gujarat.gov.in) when we checked in October 2026, so check your office's list when it is issued. On the DoPT list, Makar Sankranti (Uttarayan) is a restricted holiday on Thu 14 Jan 2027, and Pongal and Guru Gobind Singh's Birthday share Fri 15 Jan, also restricted. For central offices outside Delhi, the state coordination committee can pick Makar Sankranti as one of the three optional holidays.

If you get Thu 14 Jan off and take Fri 15 Jan as leave or a restricted holiday, you have four days, Thu 14 to Sun 17 Jan. If you want to be home for the kites on the 14th, the 3-day Rann of Kutch trip fits Fri 15 to Sun 17 Jan.
