Phi Phi Island Tour Price 2026: Speedboat vs Big Boat

Phi Phi Island Tour Price 2026: Speedboat vs Big Boat

A Phi Phi island tour costs from ₹3,218 per person by speedboat from Phuket, ₹3,298 by big boat from Phuket and ₹3,570 by speedboat from Krabi with lunch (our prices, checked 12 Oct 2026). For a day with lunch, snorkel gear and the national park fee already in the price, our Phi Phi Islands Speedboat Day is ₹5,999 per person.

The choice is speed against comfort: a speedboat is faster and bumpier, a big boat slower, steadier and longer. On the cheapest options the national park fee is not included, and you pay it in baht on the day.

Prices checked 12 Oct 2026 from our live trip pages. Park fee and Maya Bay rules checked with official Thai sources in October 2026.

Each price is the cheapest option listed on 12 Oct 2026: a shared hotel transfer with the park fee paid separately on the Phuket speedboat and the big boat, and ticket only (no transfer) on the catamaran. Your written quote is final.

How to read the table:

  • The cheapest line is rarely the whole cost. Where the park fee is "paid on the day", you pay it yourself in cash, in Thai baht.
  • Lunch is listed on three tours only: the Krabi speedboat, the catamaran and the ₹5,999 speedboat day. On the others, meals are not listed, so ask before you pay.
  • Transfers differ. The Phuket speedboat, the big boat and the Krabi speedboat prices include a shared hotel transfer. The catamaran price is ticket only, with transfer options at extra cost. On the Phi Phi Islands Speedboat Day, getting to the meeting point is not included, and pickup notes come with your booking.
  • Seat classes and fee-included options cost more. The big boat has Economy, Silver and Gold seats, each with or without the park fee. Your quote shows the exact price of the option you pick.

Speedboat, big boat or catamaran: which should you pick?

Choose by who is travelling, not only by price.

Travelling withOur pickWhy
Couple or friendsSpeedboatMore time at the islands, less time crossing
Older children and teenagersSpeedboat or catamaranFast and lively, or steadier with lunch on board
ToddlersBig boat or catamaranSpeedboats jolt hard; toddlers do better on a steadier deck
Grandparents, or anyone who gets seasickBig boatSlower, gentler in a swell, room to stand and find shade

Speedboats ride hard over waves. Our trip notes say the Phuket speedboat suits an active senior rather than anyone with back or joint trouble, and older children more than toddlers. If you are pregnant, or have back or neck trouble, tell us before booking.

The big boat is slower and moves more gently in a swell, with room to stand and stretch. It is a long day of about 11 hours with the shared transfer, and you reach the islands by tender. Our notes for older travellers suggest the Silver or Gold seat for easier boarding and shade. The operator does not spell out what each seat class adds, so your trip captain confirms it before you pay.

The catamaran is a slower, sociable day with lunch on board and a stop at Maiton Island as well. The footing is easier than on a speedboat, but it is still a full day at sea.

From Krabi, the speedboat day is shorter at about 8 hours, but it has two long, fast crossings and steps on and off the boat. It is a long day for young children.

Should you go from Phuket or from Krabi?

Go from wherever you are staying. The Phi Phi Islands are in Krabi province, inside Hat Noppharat Thara–Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park, and day trips run from both Phuket and Krabi.

  • From Phuket: the most choice of boats: speedboat, big boat, catamaran and the all-inclusive speedboat day. Days run about 9 to 11 hours with transfers.
  • From Krabi: a shorter day of about 8 hours, with lunch, from ₹3,570 per person.

If your trip covers both towns, do Phi Phi from one and a different island day from the other. Our Phuket–Krabi Island Hopper (6 days, from ₹49,999 per person) and Thailand: Islands & Street-Food Nights (7 days, from ₹56,999 per person) both plan the island days for you, with return flights from Ahmedabad. You can see every day trip on our Phuket things to do and Krabi things to do pages.

Is the national park fee included in a Phi Phi tour?

Only on the options that say so. Thailand's Department of National Parks says, on its page for Hat Noppharat Thara–Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park, that foreign visitors pay a separate service fee at certain sites. It also asks visitors to keep the fee card with them while in the park, because it is checked (Department of National Parks, checked 12 Oct 2026).

On our tours:

  • Included: the Phi Phi Islands Speedboat Day.
  • Your choice: the Phuket speedboat and the big boat, which come with or without the fee.
  • Not stated by the operator: the Krabi speedboat and the catamaran. Your trip captain confirms with the operator before you pay.

Where it is not included, the fee is collected in cash, in baht, on the day. We don't print a figure here, because we could not confirm the current rate on an official page this month. Your written quote states the fee for your date and whether it is in the price. When you compare tours, add the fee back in.

Can you visit Maya Bay in 2026?

Yes, outside August and September. Maya Bay closes to visitors every August and September, and after this year's break it was set to reopen on 1 Oct 2026 (Time Out Bangkok, 29 Sep 2026). Ask us to confirm it is open on your date. Swimming in the bay is still not allowed under the park's rules.

The closure covers more than one beach. In 2024, the park closed Maya Bay together with the neighbouring Loh Sama and Lor Kor bays from 1 Aug to 30 Sep, to keep visitors safe in the rainy season and let nature recover (Government Public Relations Department, Thailand, 7 Aug 2024). The park chief also pointed to strong winds and rough seas at the Loh Sama pier, the main way in to Maya Bay (Pattaya Mail, reporting the National News Bureau of Thailand, Jul 2024). We have not seen dates for 2027 yet, so check before you book an August or September trip.

Even when the bay is open:

  • Not every tour lands at Maya Bay. Our Phi Phi Islands Speedboat Day lists Maya Bay, Pileh Lagoon and Monkey Beach. The big boat, catamaran and Krabi operators don't list their stops; your trip captain sends the operator's programme for your date before you pay.
  • The park decides on the day whether boats can land, and for how long.
  • Weather decides the route. Operators can change stops or cancel in rough seas.

When is the best time for a Phi Phi day trip?

The Thai Meteorological Department's outlook for August to October 2026 describes August and September as the wettest months for most of Thailand. In October, southern Thailand, where Phi Phi is, still gets heavy rain, and tropical storms can pass close to the south. Add the Maya Bay closure in August and September, and November onwards is the time we suggest for a Phi Phi day.

What should you carry on a Phi Phi day trip?

  • Thai baht in cash, for the park fee if it isn't included and for island shops
  • Swimwear under light clothes, a towel and a change of clothes
  • Sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses
  • A dry bag for your phone
  • Motion-sickness tablets, taken before you board if you need them
  • A government photo ID
