  1. Check in at the marina in the morning, safety briefing, and then a fast run south-east to Phi Phi Leh, which takes around forty-five minutes depending on the sea. Speedboats bounce, so the front seats are the fun ones and the back seats are the sensible ones.

  2. Maya Bay first, which is the beach from the film, reopened with visitor caps and a boardwalk approach from the far side to protect the reef. Pileh Lagoon afterwards, enclosed by limestone walls with water the colour of a swimming pool, and Monkey Beach, where the macaques are bold and should not be fed. Buffet lunch on Phi Phi Don.

  3. A snorkel stop over the coral gardens on the way back, then Khai island for the last swim off a sandbar. National park fees are included in the price, which is worth knowing because they are collected separately and are not small. Back at the marina by around five.
