What does each Kashmir trip include?

The five trips with flights share one inclusions list: return flights from Ahmedabad to Srinagar, houseboat and hotel stays with breakfast and dinner, all transfers in private vehicles, and a trip captain throughout.

The honeymoon trip lists one houseboat night and four hotel nights with breakfast, a car and driver throughout, both phases of the Gulmarg Gondola, a shikara ride and the garden entries.

Not included on the five trips with flights: lunches, pony rides, the second gondola phase unless the trip lists it, and personal expenses and tips. The honeymoon trip leaves out flights, pony rides, meals beyond breakfast and the local union taxis above Pahalgam. Pony operators at Pahalgam and Gulmarg quote high, so your trip captain agrees the rate first.

The Great Lakes trek in 2026

The trek covers about seventy kilometres over seven days with four passes, graded moderate to difficult, with full camping support so you carry only a daypack. Trekking routes in Kashmir were closed after the April 2025 attack in Pahalgam. On 4 Jun 2026 Kashmir Life reported that most were still shut, with trekkers asking for the Great Lakes circuit this trek follows, by Gadsar, Krishansar, Vishansar, Satsar and Gangbal, to be reopened (kashmirlife.net, checked October 2026). Treat the 2027 season as "check before booking", and ask us for the current position before you plan leave around it.

What does each season offer in Kashmir?

Srinagar's monthly temperature ranges below are from Incredible India (checked October 2026). Gulmarg and Pahalgam sit higher and are colder.

The Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden opened on 16 Mar 2026, nearly ten days earlier than first planned (Outlook Traveller, March 2026). The date moves with the bloom each year, so check before booking a trip around it. Our Autumn Special is timed for late October into November, when the chinars turn. How much do the Gulmarg Gondola and day trips add?

The Gulmarg Gondola is a two-stage ropeway run by the Jammu & Kashmir Cable Car Corporation (JKCCC). Its official site directs visitors to its online ticket portal, etickets.jammukashmircablecar.com, and warns against touts; it did not show fares when we checked in October 2026, so check the fare there before booking (jammukashmircablecar.com). Kashmir Life reported that from 18 Dec 2024 tatkal tickets are released online at 5 pm each day for the next day, and that the ID you show must match the details on the ticket.

Check your trip first: the Classic circuit already lists the first gondola phase and a day at Betaab and Aru, and the honeymoon trip lists both phases and a day in the Pahalgam valleys, though the local union taxi above Pahalgam is outside its price. The second phase closes in high wind, sometimes at short notice.

Above Pahalgam only local union taxis may drive to the valleys, so your own car waits in town. Betaab Valley reopened on 17 Jun 2025 (Daily Excelsior) and Aru Valley from 29 Sep 2025 (The Tribune), after both were closed following the April 2025 attack. Chandanwari, at the head of the valley, can stay closed by snow into April.

Which Kashmir trips include flights from Ahmedabad?

Five do: the Houseboat Romance, the Great Lakes Trek, the Classic circuit, the Autumn Special and the Ski Week each list return flights from Ahmedabad to Srinagar. The honeymoon trip starts in Srinagar, and we can add flights when we quote.

The 4-day Houseboat Romance fits a long weekend: leave on a Friday, come back on the Monday, and it uses two days of leave. The 6-day trips need four or five days off, so they sit well around a festival holiday. Security lines at Srinagar airport are long, so we leave extra time on your last day, and you should carry a government photo ID throughout.

What does a couple or a family of four pay?

Multiply the per-person price by the number of travellers. Children's prices depend on age and bedding, so we price them in your quote. These totals are before GST.

Is Kashmir comfortable for elderly parents?

Yes, on the right trip. The Houseboat Romance is the gentlest: most of it is spent seated on the houseboat veranda, in a shikara or in the car, with short, level walks through the gardens and the old city. The Autumn Special is also gentle, with garden and orchard walks and boat rides.

• The Classic circuit: moderate walking in the gardens and at the gondola stations, and noticeably thinner air at the top.
• The trek and the ski week: not ones we suggest for older parents; both are full days of exercise at altitude in the cold.
• Food: vegetarian meals are available on the Houseboat Romance and Jain meals on request. On any trip, tell us when you enquire and your trip captain checks each included meal.
• Clothing: pack warm layers in every season; nights are cool even in summer.
