Australia Visa for Indians 2026: Subclass 600, How to Apply

Yes, Indians need a visa for Australia: tourists apply online for the Visitor visa (subclass 600) through an ImmiAccount before leaving India, and a stay of up to three months is generally granted. Our Australia trips cost from ₹1,59,999 to ₹2,29,999 per person with return flights from Ahmedabad, and each includes visa filing by us (prices checked 16 Oct 2026).
Each trip price includes return flights from Ahmedabad, the internal flights listed, hotels with daily breakfast, transfers, the listed experiences, a trip captain and the visa filing. The government visa charge is not listed in the trip price, and travel insurance is excluded. GST and TCS are shown in your written quote.
Prices checked 16 Oct 2026 from our live trip pages. Visa rules checked with Tourism Australia (australia.com) and the Australian High Commission, New Delhi, in October 2026. The Department of Home Affairs pages did not load when we checked, so confirm the visa charge, processing times and biometrics there before applying.
Do Indians need a visa for Australia?
Yes. Tourism Australia says that unless you are an Australian citizen, you need a valid Australian visa to enter the country. Only New Zealand passport holders can apply on arrival; all other passport holders, whatever their age, must apply before leaving home (australia.com, checked October 2026). You also need to be outside Australia when you apply.
Here is the short version, with the source for each line.

Which visa do Indian tourists apply for?
The Visitor visa (subclass 600). Tourism Australia describes it as a visa to visit Australia for tourism or business, open to all nationalities.
Two other visitor routes exist, but only for some passports. The Electronic Travel Authority (subclass 601) is available to passport holders of a number of countries and regions, through the Australian ETA app. The eVisitor (subclass 651) is free for passport holders of a number of European countries. Tourism Australia's page does not name India for either, so plan on the subclass 600 visa. If anyone in your family also holds another passport, check its options on the Department of Home Affairs website.
How do you apply online through ImmiAccount?
The Australian High Commission in New Delhi says that from 30 Sep 2021, all visitor visa applicants outside Australia must lodge online through ImmiAccount. Paper applications are not accepted as valid unless the Department has given written notice, which happens only in exceptional circumstances.
The steps look like this:
- Create an ImmiAccount on the Department of Home Affairs website.
- Choose the Visitor visa (subclass 600) and complete one application for each traveller, children included.
- Attach your supporting documents and pay the fee shown before you submit.
- Answer any request for more information that the Department sends.
- Wait for the grant before you fly, and read its conditions.
On our Australia trips, visa filing is included: we prepare the application with you, using the itinerary and bookings from your written quote, and tell you which supporting papers to gather. You remain responsible for everything in it, so read each page before it goes in.
How long can you stay on a visitor visa?
Tourism Australia says a stay of up to three months is generally granted, and that up to 12 months may be granted in certain circumstances. The conditions on your own grant are what count, so check them once it arrives.
Our trips use only a small part of that. Each one is priced per person:
| Trip | Length | Where you go | From (per person) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Red Centre: Uluru Expedition | 5 days, 4 nights | Uluru and Kata Tjuta | ₹1,59,999 |
| Reef & Rainforest: Cairns Deep Dive | 6 days, 5 nights | Cairns, Port Douglas, the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree | ₹1,74,999 |
| Sydney + Melbourne City Duo | 7 days, 6 nights | Sydney, Melbourne and the Great Ocean Road | ₹1,89,999 |
| Australia East Coast Classic | 9 days, 8 nights | Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Cairns, the reef and the Daintree | ₹2,29,999 |
All four list return flights from Ahmedabad plus the internal flights on the route, because distances in Australia are large. None has fixed departure dates, so the price is confirmed for your dates in the quote.
Which documents, funds and insurance do you need?
Tourism Australia lists these for visitor visas:
- Financial requirements: you must meet them, though the page gives no figure or list, so follow what the application asks for.
- Medical requirements: you must meet them too. Parents with a health condition should read the medical section on the Department of Home Affairs site before applying.
- Health insurance: maintain it for the whole stay.
- One application per person: including children.
The Department can ask for more documents during processing, so keep originals handy. We won't print a fixed checklist or a bank-balance figure, because the official sources we could open don't give one, and anything else would be a guess.
Insurance on our trips
Travel insurance is excluded from all four trip prices. Because the visa expects health insurance for the whole stay, budget for a policy that covers every day you are in Australia, and keep the document ready for the application.
How much does the visa cost, and how long does it take?
Tourism Australia says applicants have to pay a fee to submit an application, but gives no amount. The Department of Home Affairs pages that list the charge refused our requests in October 2026, so we don't print a figure here. Check the current charge on the Department of Home Affairs site before applying.
The sources we could open give no processing time either; Tourism Australia only advises applying well in advance of your travel date. Our trip pages allow four to eight weeks for the visitor visa. That is our planning allowance, not an official processing time. Ask the Department's site, too, whether you will be asked for biometrics, and allow time for it.
In practice, start as soon as your dates and trip are fixed, and don't buy non-refundable extras until the visa is granted.
What does an Australia trip cost for a couple or a family?
Multiply the per-person price by the number of travellers. Children are priced in your quote, by age and bed. These totals are before GST and TCS, and before the visa charge and insurance.
| Who is travelling | Trip | Total from |
|---|---|---|
| Couple | Red Centre: Uluru Expedition, 5 days | ₹3,19,998 |
| Couple | Reef & Rainforest, 6 days | ₹3,49,998 |
| Couple | Sydney + Melbourne, 7 days | ₹3,79,998 |
| Four adults | Sydney + Melbourne, 7 days | ₹7,59,996 |
| Four adults | East Coast Classic, 9 days | ₹9,19,996 |
For families: the optional Sydney bridge climb on the Sydney + Melbourne trip needs children to be at least 8 years old and 120 cm tall, and the reef days on the Cairns trips mean hours in open water. For older parents, Uluru's full base walk is a flat 10.6 kilometres, with shorter viewing options.

How we help
We file the subclass 600 visa as part of every Australia trip, and the flights, hotels and experiences sit in one written quote, so the itinerary you submit matches the trip you take. Tell us your dates and who is travelling, and we will start the plan and the visa file together: start with a message.
