The story
The Yellow Boats are the bright yellow inflatable speedboats that run out of Dubai Marina. They leave from Marina Walk, run out of the Marina channel past the towers of JBR, and then open up on the sea along the Palm Jumeirah. From the water the city makes more sense than it does from a taxi: the Marina towers stand in one wall, the Ain Dubai wheel stands on Bluewaters, the Palm's crescent lies flat on the sea with Atlantis at its tip, and on the longest tour the Burj Al Arab rises out of the water ahead of you. There are four tours on this ticket, and they differ in how far the boat goes, not in how it feels.
What it feels like: you are fitted with a life jacket and find your seat among a boatful of strangers. Inside the Marina the boat idles and the crew talk you through what you are looking at; once it is out on the open sea the engines open and the boat lifts, slaps across the swell and throws spray over the side. Children shriek, and most grown-ups do too. On the 99-minute tour the boat stops for photographs at the landmarks, and the stillness after the noise is when people pass their phones round. Then it is back up to speed, into the Marina, and you step off damp, salty and grinning.
Who this suits: the friends group and the adventure-minded, who will want the 99-minute tour for the Burj Al Arab; families with teenagers and school-age children (the operator takes children from 4, and 5 on the 99-minute tour, who weigh at least 15 kg); and couples on an escape, for whom the 60-minute Marina tour is an easy first evening. Active seniors manage it if they are steady on their feet and have no back trouble, since the operator's own page says the tour suits seniors whose mobility is not severely restricted. It is not for anyone pregnant or with a bad back or neck: the boat bounces hard at speed. The budget and value traveller gets the Palm and Atlantis in 45 minutes on the least expensive ticket.
What happens
The plan as the operator runs it. Start times and pickup are confirmed for your date.
-
Make your own way to the Yellow Boats meeting point on Dubai Marina Walk; none of these options includes a hotel transfer. The exact meeting point and check-in time are on your voucher. Arrive in good time for check-in.
-
The crew fit your life jackets and go through the safety rules. Children need to weigh 15 kg; for a child close to that weight, your captain confirms the limit with the operator first.
-
Slow through the Marina channel, then out to sea. The 45-minute tour runs to Atlantis The Palm and back; the 60-minute tour loops the Marina, JBR, Bluewaters and Ain Dubai; the 75-minute tour runs along the Palm Jumeirah to Atlantis; the 99-minute tour carries on round the Palm to the Burj Al Arab, with photo stops along the way.
-
The boat returns to Marina Walk, where the tour ends. The Marina's promenade and restaurants are a few steps away.

Know before you go
- The boat bounces hard over the swell at speed and you will get wet from the spray. The operator's FAQ says it takes no one who is pregnant, at any stage, and no infants (checked 15 Oct 2026). Anyone with a back, neck or heart problem should tell the captain before booking, and your captain asks the operator.
- Minimum age on the operator's own pages (theyellowboats.ae, checked 23 Sep 2026): 4 years for the 45-, 60- and 75-minute tours and 5 years for the 99-minute tour. Children up to 12 need to weigh 15 kg; the operator's pages word this both as 'at least' and 'over' 15 kg (checked 15 Oct 2026), so for a child close to that weight your captain confirms with the operator before you pay.
- The boat is open to the sun. Wear sunglasses you can strap on, a hat that will not blow away, sunscreen and clothes you do not mind getting salty; carry a light layer for evening tours from December to February.
- Keep phones on a strap or in a zipped pocket at speed.
- Motion sickness: sit near the back of the boat, look at the horizon and eat lightly beforehand.
- Boat tours depend on the sea. The operator's pages we read do not state its weather rules, so your captain asks the operator what happens to your booking if a tour is changed or called off.
- The operator gives every option as a one-hour activity whatever its length on the water; the tour lengths above are the operator's own.
- The operator carries one rate per option. Your captain asks the operator about child rates before you pay.
- Departure times are not on the operator's list. Your captain confirms the slot for your date with the operator when booking; the operator can decline a booking if the price has changed or the date is sold out, and you are told before you pay.
- Prices are per person in INR. GST and TCS are shown in your written quote.
