The story

Dubai Garden Glow is an evening park inside Zabeel Park, next to the Dubai Frame, entered at Gate 3. By the park's own site it is two parks on one ticket: the Dinosaur Park, where life-size animatronic dinosaurs move and roar along a trail through the trees, and the Fantasy Park, a walk among large lit structures built into the garden that is designed to be photographed. The site suggests about two hours to see both, and the gates open at 4 pm and close at 9 pm, Wednesday to Monday.

What it feels like: you arrive as the heat drops and the sky goes dark, and the paths light up in colour with the Dubai Frame glowing just beyond the trees. The dinosaur trail is the part children run ahead on and grandparents take slowly, with a loud roar every few metres; the lit gardens are the part everyone stops in for photographs. It is unhurried, and you are back at the hotel by ten with the sort of pictures a phone takes well in the dark.

Who this suits: the family with toddlers and the school-holiday family, because it is an evening walk with no rides or height limits; the multigenerational group, since it is a walk paced by you; and the couple's escape as a cheap, easy evening before a late dinner. The friends group and teenagers will find it gentle; give them the Frame or a boat instead.

What your ticket covers

Opening hours and entry times are confirmed for your date.

  1. Ticket-only guests reach Zabeel Park Gate 3 themselves; the park names Max station on the Red Line as the nearest metro. On the private option a vehicle collects you from your Dubai hotel and waits.

  2. A trail among moving, roaring animatronic dinosaurs. Best done first, while children have energy for it.

  3. A walk through the lit structures and gardens once it is fully dark. Outside food and drink are not allowed in.

  4. The park closes at 9 pm. On the private option the vehicle takes you back to your hotel.
