The Grand Loop is the closest match if you want the whole country. It flies from Hanoi to Da Nang and from Da Nang to Ho Chi Minh City, includes an overnight cruise in Ha Long Bay, Ba Na Hills, Hoi An, the Cu Chi tunnels and a Mekong Delta day, and is the trip we trim when you have 7 or 8 nights rather than 9.

The Ha Long Awakening is the easiest on older travellers: four nights in Hanoi's old quarter, one night on the boat with all cruise meals, and a free day. The Bay and the Lanterns covers Hanoi, Ha Long and Hoi An at a slower pace and includes the domestic flight from Hanoi to Da Nang, but international flights are quoted separately.

How much is the Vietnam e-visa for Indians?

Indian passport holders apply online for a Vietnam e-visa. The official portal run by Vietnam's Immigration Department (evisa.gov.vn, checked 12 Oct 2026) states:

Two rules from the portal's FAQs catch people out. Your name must match the machine-readable line of your passport exactly, middle name included, and the visa's validity must end at least 30 days before your passport expires. The portal also recommends filling in a pre-arrival form at prearrival.immigration.gov.vn before you land.

What do Vietnam activities cost?

Check your trip's day plan before adding anything: the Grand Loop already includes Ba Na Hills and an overnight Ha Long cruise, so a separate Ha Long day cruise would be a repeat. Per-vehicle prices are shared by everyone in the car.

What else should you budget for?

• Hoi An Ancient Town ticket. The Hoi An heritage management centre's notice of 29 Jan 2026 lists two tickets: VND 80,000 (about ₹295) for the town and three monuments, or VND 120,000 (about ₹440) for the town, a museum and four monuments. One ticket covers your stay for up to three days, and children under 16 enter free.
• Domestic flights. The Bay and the Lanterns includes the flight from Hanoi to Da Nang. The Grand Loop's day plan flies Hanoi to Da Nang and Da Nang to Ho Chi Minh City, and your written quote confirms those fares for your dates. On a route we build for you, domestic fares are quoted on the day, because they change daily.
• Meals. Breakfast is included on the four flight-inclusive trips, and all meals on board the Ha Long cruise. Other lunches and dinners are yours. Vegetarian and Jain travellers should tell us early so we can plan the food stops.
• Travel insurance. Not included in our Vietnam trips. Buy a policy that covers medical treatment abroad before you fly.
• Drinks, tailoring and tips. Not in any trip price. Hoi An's tailors are popular, so set aside money if you plan to have something made.
• Taxes. GST and TCS on overseas trips are shown, itemised, in your written quote before you pay.

How should you split 6 to 8 nights in Vietnam?
