What do 5-, 7- and 8-day Japan trips cost?

5 days: from ₹1,39,999

The Japan Express is built for short leave: Tokyo's big sights in two days, a full day at Mt Fuji and Kawaguchiko, and a food morning at Tsukiji. The pacing keeps you in one hotel on the days that matter, so you are not dragging bags around. Leaving on a Friday and back on the Tuesday, it needs three days of leave.

6 to 7 days: from ₹1,69,999 to ₹2,14,999

The Otaku & Anime Tour (6 days) suits fans, with Ghibli Museum tickets booked ahead for a fixed date and a full day at Universal Studios Japan. The two 7-day trips are seasonal: Japan Winter for snow monkeys and Hakuba, and the Cherry Blossom Special for hanami in Tokyo and Kyoto.

8 days: from ₹1,89,999

The Golden Route is the classic first trip: Tokyo, a ryokan night in Hakone, the bullet train to Kyoto on a JR Pass, then Nara and Osaka, flying home from Kansai. In our catalogue it is priced below both 7-day seasonal trips.

10 days: ₹3,21,000 without flights

The Grand Wonders of Japan group tour runs from Osaka to Tokyo with a tour manager. Its last published departure is 11 Nov 2026, and no 2027 dates are published yet. Seats are subject to written confirmation, and flights should be booked only after that.

A Fuji day on its own

If your trip has a free day in Tokyo, Mount Fuji: The Pagoda and the Mountain is ₹7,999 per person, with a return coach from central Tokyo, an English-speaking guide, the ropeway ticket and all viewpoint entries. Fuji is often in cloud; the day runs regardless and there is no refund for weather. The Chureito pagoda viewpoint is 398 steps with no lift.

Does the season change what you pay?

In our catalogue, the two main seasons are sold as separate trips with their own prices. The Cherry Blossom Special is planned for late March to April and is from ₹2,14,999. Japan Winter is planned for December to February and is from ₹1,99,999. The Golden Route, Express and Otaku trips are not tied to a season.

Sakura is forecast rather than scheduled, so the blossom dates move each year and we book to follow the forecast. Whichever trip you choose, the price for your exact dates, including flights, is confirmed in the written quote.

What is included, and what do you pay on top?

On the five private trips, the trip page lists:

  • Return flights from Ahmedabad, with departures from other metro cities on request
  • Hand-picked stays with daily breakfast
  • All transfers and the experiences listed on the trip page
  • The visa, handled by us where applicable
  • A trip captain and local crew
  • A JR rail pass where the itinerary lists it

You pay on top for meals that are not listed, optional add-ons, shopping, tips and travel insurance. Cash is still common in small shops, and transit cards are issued on arrival.

The group tour is different. It includes hotels in Osaka, Nagoya, Toyama, Nagano or Matsumoto and Tokyo, daily breakfast, 8 lunches and 9 dinners with Indian Jain, vegetarian and non-vegetarian choices, the bullet train to Hiroshima and back, coach touring and a tour manager. It excludes international airfare, passport and visa charges, and travel insurance.

Vegetarian and Jain food in Japan

Vegetarian and Jain meals take planning in Japan, because many broths and sauces are made with fish stock. The group tour is the easiest option for a Jain family, since Indian Jain meals are part of the package. On the private trips, tell us when you enquire and your trip captain plans meals around it.

Do you need a JR Pass on a planned trip?

On our private trips, a JR rail pass is included where the itinerary needs one, as on the Golden Route's bullet train from Tokyo to Kyoto, so you don't buy one separately. Carry your passport to activate it.

If you plan Japan yourself, these are the official prices for passes bought online (japanrailpass.net, checked October 2026):

JR Pass, adultPriceAbout in rupees
7-day Ordinary¥50,000₹30,000
7-day Green (first class)¥70,000₹42,000
14-day Ordinary¥80,000₹48,000

Bought online, child passes are half the adult price. Bought through a JR-designated agency outside Japan, the 7-day Ordinary pass is ¥53,000. The pass covers JR trains, including the shinkansen, but for the fastest Nozomi and Mizuho services on the Tokaido and Sanyo lines you buy a special ticket on top. Rupee figures use about ₹0.60 to the yen (ExchangeRate-API, 16 Oct 2026); your card or forex rate will differ.

A pass pays off when your route has long bullet-train legs, such as Tokyo to Kyoto and back. A Tokyo-only stay may not need one. We work this out for each itinerary.

How much does the Japan visa cost for Indians?

The VFS Global page for Japan visas in western India (checked October 2026) lists a fee of ₹500 for a single-entry tourist (sightseeing) visa, plus a VFS service charge of ₹800 per application. Ahmedabad has a visa application centre, and the page gives an indicative processing time of 12 days there for a sightseeing visa without a guarantor, at the discretion of the Consulate General of Japan in Mumbai. Your passport must be valid for six months from the date of entry.

If you have heard of an online eVISA route, check before booking whether it applies to you. On our private trips we file the application with your documents. On the group tour, visa charges are not included.

What does a couple or a family of four pay?

Multiply the per-person price by the number of travellers. Children's prices depend on age and on whether they need their own bed, so we price them in your quote. These totals are before GST and TCS.

TripCoupleFour people
Japan Express, 5 days₹2,79,998₹5,59,996
Otaku & Anime, 6 days₹3,39,998₹6,79,996
Golden Route, 8 days₹3,79,998₹7,59,996
Japan Winter, 7 days₹3,99,998₹7,99,996
Cherry Blossom, 7 days₹4,29,998₹8,59,996
Grand Wonders group tour, 10 days, without flights₹6,42,000₹12,84,000

For elderly parents, the Golden Route's temple visits and onsen night are gentle, but the Fushimi Inari and Arashiyama mornings mean sustained walking on slopes and stairs. Japan Winter is not one we suggest for seniors, because the walk to the snow monkeys covers about two kilometres of hills and uneven ground.
