The story
Chureito pagoda is a peace memorial on a hillside at Arakurayama, and from the platform above it you get the pagoda, the town, and Fuji all stacked in one frame. In April there is cherry blossom in front of it and the whole thing becomes almost too much.
Fuji often hides in cloud, and mornings give the best odds of a clear view, especially in winter. That's why you go early and why the day is built around the mountain deciding to appear.
