Gulmarg Gondola Ticket Price 2026–27: Snow Day from ₹4,499

Gulmarg Gondola Ticket Price 2026–27: Snow Day from ₹4,499

The official Gulmarg Gondola fare is set by the J&K Cable Car Corporation and shown on its booking portal when you pick a date, so check it there before you travel; our Gulmarg Gondola Snow Day, with the Phase 1 ticket, the Phase 2 ticket when it runs and a guide who handles the ticket queue, costs from ₹4,499 per person (prices checked 16 Oct 2026). Kashmir trips that include the gondola start at ₹22,999 per person for 6 days, with return flights from Ahmedabad.

The snow day price covers the Phase 1 ticket, the Phase 2 ticket on days the corporation runs it, and a guide who stands in the queue for you. Transport to the meeting point, winter clothing and boots, sledges and personal expenses are extra. GST and TCS are shown in your written quote; TCS applies only to trips abroad, so on a Gulmarg day the quote shows GST alone.

Prices checked 16 Oct 2026 from our live trip pages. Booking rules and closure days checked with the J&K Cable Car Corporation's official website (jammukashmircablecar.com) in October 2026.

How much is a Gulmarg Gondola ticket in 2026–27?

The J&K Cable Car Corporation (JKCCC), which runs the gondola, does not print a fare list on its main website. Its rate list for both phases simply sends you to the booking portal, etickets.jammukashmircablecar.com, for the current rates (checked October 2026). The portal opens on a login page; you see the fare once you sign in and choose a date and phase.

Travel sites quote figures that disagree with one another and that we could not match to an official page, so we don't repeat them. Our own prices are fixed in your written quote:

OptionWhat you getFrom (per person)
Gulmarg Gondola Snow DayPhase 1 ticket, Phase 2 when it runs, a guide for the queue, snow time at the top₹4,499

The Kashmir Classic includes Phase 1 only; Phase 2 is added in your quote if you want it. The honeymoon trip includes both phases but not flights.

What the ticket does not cover

Coats, boots, a pony to the base station and snow activities are paid for separately at Gulmarg. The Directorate of Tourism Kashmir's approved rate list for 1 Apr 2025 to 31 Mar 2026, posted on the corporation's website, gives an idea of what these cost:

Service at GulmargApproved rate, 2025–26
Coat or jacket on hire₹120 per day
Boots on hire₹120 per day
Pony, market to the gondola₹200 (drop)
Ski equipment for a trainee₹800 full day, ₹450 half day
Snow mobile or snow bike₹550 for the first 15 minutes

That list ran until 31 Mar 2026 and a new one may apply this winter, so check before booking. Sledges are rented at the top at a rate agreed on the spot.

What is the difference between Phase 1 and Phase 2?

The gondola runs in two stages. Phase 1 goes from Gulmarg to Kongdori, and Phase 2 continues from Kongdori to Apharwat (JKCCC rate list, checked October 2026). The corporation's project page calls it a two-stage ropeway and one of the highest cable cars in the world. It gives no altitude figures, so we don't either.

Kongdori is where most families stop for sledging, snowballs and kahwa, the saffron and cardamom tea Kashmir drinks against the cold. Phase 2 is higher and colder, and on our snow day it is decided on the morning. If it does not run, the Phase 2 part is refunded automatically.

How do you book gondola tickets online?

Only through the corporation's own portal. JKCCC's website advises tourists to book online and not to fall prey to touts, and it links to one booking site, etickets.jammukashmircablecar.com (checked October 2026). The steps:

  1. Sign up or log in on the booking portal.
  2. Pick the date, the phase and the number of travellers.
  3. Pay online, keep the e-ticket on your phone and carry a government photo ID for each traveller.

A corporation notice dated 10 Oct 2026 says online booking opens up to 120 days in advance, so you can book as soon as your flights are fixed. On our snow day, we book the tickets for you.

Which days is the gondola closed?

A notice in force since 13 Jul 2026 says the gondola stays closed on the second and fourth Monday of every month for preventive maintenance. For the coming snow season, that means these dates, unless the corporation changes the rule:

MonthClosed (2nd and 4th Mondays)
December 202614 Dec and 28 Dec
January 202711 Jan and 25 Jan
February 20278 Feb and 22 Feb
March 20278 Mar and 22 Mar

The gondola also closes for an annual inspection; in 2026 a notice of 17 Sep said both phases would reopen the next day.

When is there snow at Kongdori and Apharwat?

We run the snow day from December to March, and the ski week from January to March. In the last season, deep snow had built up by late January: on 23 Jan 2026, Greater Kashmir reported about four feet of snow at Kongdori (Phase 1) and about six feet at Phase 2, quoting the Assistant Director, Tourism, with all major ski slopes up to Phase 2 set to open from 25 Jan, provided snowfall conditions stayed favourable.

Snow early in December is not certain. If snow is the reason for the trip, we suggest January or February, and a long weekend gives you enough time for Srinagar and one Gulmarg day. For the month-by-month picture, read our Kashmir in winter guide.

Is the gondola suitable for elderly parents and small children?

Phase 1 suits most parents and children with the right clothing and a slow pace. The hard parts are the queue, the cold and walking in deep snow, which can be tiring for anyone with breathing or joint problems.

  • Elderly parents: take Phase 1 and stay at Kongdori. A pony from the market to the base station saves the walk, and a coat and boots on hire keep them warm. If anyone has a heart or breathing condition, ask your doctor before the trip, and decide about Phase 2 on the day.
  • Small children: dress them in warm layers, gloves and a cap, because the top station is cold. Keep sledging short and supervised.
  • Vegetarian and Jain families: kahwa is part of the day; for Jain food, carry your own dry snacks from Srinagar or home.

What does our Gulmarg snow day include?

You meet the guide at the base station and gear up, and the guide handles the ticket queue, the longest part of a peak-season day. Then Phase 1 to Kongdori, Phase 2 if it is running, snow hours at the top and the ride down.

  • Included: the Phase 1 ticket, the Phase 2 ticket when it runs, and a guide.
  • Not included: transport to the meeting point (we send pickup notes when you book), winter clothing and boots, sledges and personal expenses.
  • Payment and changes: full payment at booking; free reschedule up to 48 hours before your slot; if the operator cancels for weather, a full refund or a free date change.

Here is what a couple or a family pays, before GST. Children are priced in your quote.
