The story

Northern and central Vietnam in six days. You spend three nights at Sunway Hotel Hanoi and two at Santa Luxury Hotel in Da Nang, with breakfast at both.

In the north, a guided city tour ends on Hanoi's Train Street. Then come two full days out of the city: a cruise among the limestone islands of Halong Bay with lunch on board and a cave stop, and a day in Ninh Binh with a boat ride through Tam Coc, the climb at Mua Caves and the old capital of Hoa Lu.

You fly to Da Nang on day four (the flight is not included) and spend the evening in Hoi An's old town. The last full day is up at Ba Na Hills: a long cable car ride, the Golden Bridge held up by giant stone hands, the French Village and Fantasy Park.

Airport transfers are private. The day tours are shared with other travellers, with an English-speaking guide.

Your journey outline

  1. Land at Hanoi airport (HAN). A private car takes you to Sunway Hotel Hanoi; the sample slot is 10:00 to 11:00. From 13:30 to 17:30 a guided half-day tour with an English-speaking guide covers Hanoi's historic landmarks and busy streets, and ends on Train Street. Coffee there is at your own cost.

  2. A full day, 07:30 to 20:10, by shared shuttle bus. You drive to Halong Bay and cruise among its limestone islands and green water, stop at a limestone cave, and have a Vietnamese lunch on board.

  3. An early start, 06:30 to 17:30, by shared shuttle bus. In Tam Coc a boat takes you along the Ngo Dong River between rice fields and limestone cliffs. You visit Mua Caves and Mua Mountain for the view, and Hoa Lu, the ancient capital, with its old temples. A local meal is included.

  4. A private car takes you to Hanoi airport (sample slot 08:00 to 10:00). You fly to Da Nang; the flight is not included. A private car meets you at Da Nang airport (DAD) and takes you to Santa Luxury Hotel (sample slot 11:00 to 13:00). From 13:15 to 22:00 a shared tour with an English-speaking guide takes you to Hoi An Ancient Town, its old houses, lantern streets and riverside. Meals on this tour are not included.

  5. A full day, 07:45 to 16:30. Ride one of the world's longest cable cars up to Ba Na Hills, walk the Golden Bridge with its giant stone hands, explore the French Village, and spend time at Fantasy Park's indoor games and rides.

  6. Breakfast, then check out. A private car takes you to Da Nang airport (DAD).
