Turkey Visa for Indians 2026: e-Visa Rules and Documents

Indians need a visa for Turkey: you can get an e-visa online only if you hold a valid US, UK, Schengen or Ireland visa or residence permit, and everyone else applies for a sticker visa at a Turkish Embassy or Consulate (Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, checked October 2026). Our Turkey trips from Ahmedabad start at ₹54,999 per person for four days in Istanbul and ₹99,999 for a week with Cappadocia (prices checked 16 Oct 2026).
Our Turkey trips list return flights from Ahmedabad, stays with daily breakfast, transfers, the listed experiences, a trip captain and visa handling where it applies. GST and TCS are shown in your written quote.
Prices checked 16 Oct 2026 from our live trip pages. Visa rules checked with the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Turkish Embassy in New Delhi in October 2026.
Do Indians need a visa for Turkey?
Yes. The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs lists Indian ordinary passport holders as needing a visa to enter Türkiye (mfa.gov.tr, checked October 2026). Which visa you apply for depends on one thing: whether you already hold a valid visa or residence permit from the US, the UK, a Schengen country or Ireland.
| Your situation | Visa you need | Where you apply |
|---|---|---|
| You hold a valid US, UK, Schengen or Ireland visa or residence permit | E-visa, single entry, valid for one month | Online, only at www.evisa.gov.tr |
| You don't hold one of these | Sticker visa | Turkish Embassy in New Delhi or a Turkish consulate in India |
| You are going to work or study | A visa for that purpose | Turkish Embassy or consulate; the e-visa is for tourism or commerce only |
Who can get the Turkey e-visa with a US, UK or Schengen visa?
The Turkish Embassy in New Delhi says Indian nationals are eligible for the e-visa when they hold a valid visa or a valid residence permit from a Schengen country, the USA, the UK or Ireland (newdelhi-emb.mfa.gov.tr, checked October 2026). The Ministry adds that applicants must meet certain conditions, which the e-visa form sets out when you apply.
Three details catch people out:
- Other e-visas don't count. The Embassy says e-visas of other countries are not accepted as the supporting document. A US, UK, Schengen or Ireland visa or residence permit is what counts.
- The supporting visa must be valid when you land. A visa that expires before your entry date to Turkey does not qualify.
- A visa in an old passport still works. The Embassy accepts a supporting visa in an old or expired passport as long as that visa is valid on your entry date. Register the e-visa on your current passport, then carry the old passport and show it to immigration when you arrive.
If you have a UAE or Saudi residence permit, or a visa from Canada or Australia, it is not on the list the Embassy names, so plan for a sticker visa unless the Embassy tells you otherwise.
How do you apply for the e-visa safely?
Apply only at www.evisa.gov.tr. The Embassy is direct about this: apart from that website, all other websites claiming to provide the e-visa are fake, and no handling company has been delegated by Turkish missions in India to issue or facilitate it. If you are eligible, the Embassy says the form takes about three minutes.
- Check that your US, UK, Schengen or Ireland visa or permit will still be valid on the day you land in Turkey.
- Open www.evisa.gov.tr yourself, by typing the address, rather than clicking an advert or a link in a message.
- Fill in the form with your current passport's details and your supporting visa or permit, and read the conditions shown before you pay.
- Pay on the same site by card, and keep a copy of the e-visa with your passport.
The Embassy says it cannot answer questions about the e-visa. For other visa questions, it gives the consulate address consulate.newdelhi@mfa.gov.tr.
How our trips handle it
Our Turkey trip pages say we file the e-visa for you when you qualify. We fill in the form with you on evisa.gov.tr itself, never through another site, and the fee is the one that site shows. If you need a sticker visa, we tell you that at the quote stage so you can plan the application before paying for flights.
What if you do not hold a US, UK, Schengen or Ireland visa?
Then you apply for a sticker visa through the Turkish Embassy in New Delhi or one of its consulates in India. The Embassy's e-visa note says the e-visa costs at least USD 85 less than a sticker visa, which gives you a sense of the difference, but we could not confirm the sticker-visa fee, the processing time or the document list from an official page in October 2026. Confirm all three with the Embassy or the consulate before booking.
Start the visa before you pay for non-refundable flights, and keep your dates flexible by a few days if you can. We time the booking with you once the application is moving.

How long can you stay on a Turkey e-visa?
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs lists the e-visa for Indian applicants as single entry and valid for one month, for tourism or commerce only. It does not give a separate stay length for Indians on that page, so check the dates printed on your e-visa when it is issued. Single entry means one entry: if your plan leaves Turkey and comes back, tell us so we can check the visa route.

Travelling with parents
The Istanbul long weekend is the gentlest: a cruise, the bazaars and a hammam, with no long walks. The Cappadocia week is more active, with cobbled streets, the underground city's stairs and a balloon flight where you stand for about an hour. The balloon is not suitable in pregnancy or for anyone who cannot stand unaided for an hour, and flights are often cancelled for wind; if the operator cancels, you are refunded or moved to the next morning. For vegetarian and Jain meals, tell us when you enquire and your trip captain checks each included meal.
What should you carry at the airport in Istanbul?
Keep these together in your cabin bag:
- Your passport, valid for at least six months from the day you arrive.
- A copy of your e-visa, or your sticker visa in the passport.
- For an e-visa, the original supporting US, UK, Schengen or Ireland visa or residence permit, and the old passport if that visa is in it.
- Your return ticket and hotel bookings; we put both in your trip documents.
For mosque visits in Istanbul, our trips provide scarves, and modest dress is needed.
What does a Turkey visa cost?
We could not confirm the e-visa fee for Indian passports from an official page: evisa.gov.tr shows the amount only inside the application, and the Embassy says only that the e-visa costs at least USD 85 less than a sticker visa. Check the fee on evisa.gov.tr before you pay, and confirm the sticker-visa fee with the Embassy or consulate.
| Cost line | What we found | Source |
|---|---|---|
| E-visa fee | Shown inside the application; check before paying | evisa.gov.tr, Oct 2026 |
| Sticker visa fee | At least USD 85 more than the e-visa; confirm the amount | Turkish Embassy, New Delhi, Oct 2026 |
| Turkey Express for a couple | ₹1,09,998 before GST and TCS | Our price, 16 Oct 2026 |
| Turkey Classic for a couple | ₹1,99,998 before GST and TCS | Our price, 16 Oct 2026 |
| Turkey Classic for four adults | ₹3,99,996 before GST and TCS | Our price, 16 Oct 2026 |
Children's prices depend on age and bedding, so we price them in your quote. For more on the country, see our Turkey destination guide.
