The story

Sultanahmet holds fifteen hundred years of two empires within a few hundred metres, and you can see the best of it in a morning if somebody has already sorted the tickets.

Hagia Sophia was a cathedral, then a mosque, then a museum, and is a mosque again. The Basilica Cistern underneath the square is the surprise — a forest of columns in the dark with carp in the water.

What happens

The plan as the operator runs it. Start times and pickup are confirmed for your date.

  1. Hagia Sophia at opening, the Blue Mosque between prayer times, the Hippodrome, then down into the Cistern.
