The story
It only exists in July and August. The rest of the year it is snow, and for a few weeks after the melt the whole valley floor turns into something people struggle to describe without sounding ridiculous.
Three hundred flowering species, blue poppies, cobra lilies, primula in drifts, running up a glacial valley at around 3,600 metres with the Himalaya standing over it. Frank Smythe found it in 1931 by accident, having got lost coming off Kamet.
