The story

teamLab Phenomena is a digital art museum in the Saadiyat Cultural District on Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi. Visit Abu Dhabi describes artworks in which light, air and water make visual worlds that shift with your movement and touch, and suggests one to two hours inside. Entry is by timed slot. The operator sells the admission ticket on its own, about an hour by its sheet, or with a private transfer, about four hours in all; the operator files it on its Dubai sheet, so your captain confirms where the car collects you.

What it feels like: you walk from room to room rather than along a gallery wall, and the rooms answer back. Colours move when you move, some spaces use mirrored floors, and some have water, which is why the museum's own advice is clothes that roll up to the knee and flat shoes. It is all indoors, which makes it a useful few hours on a hot day.

Who this suits: families with children old enough to enjoy an interactive space (under-12s must stay with an adult), couples, and friends who like photographs that do not look like everyone else's. Grandparents who walk comfortably will manage; those who find mirrored floors or water underfoot difficult should ask your captain first.
