- Step 01
Board & Sail
Board at Vlychada marina in the afternoon and sail out along the caldera wall, which is the inside of a volcano that blew apart around 1600 BC. The cliffs rise three hundred metres with the white villages balanced on the rim, and this is the only angle that shows you the scale of it.
- Step 02
Swim & Feast
A stop at the hot springs off the volcanic islet, where you swim from the boat into water that turns rust-coloured and noticeably warmer. Then the red beach and the white beach, both reachable more easily by sea than by land, and dinner grilled on the back of the boat with local wine.
- Step 03
The Sunset
The sail west for the sunset, timed so you are on the water off Oia when the light goes. Everyone on the castle steps in the village is watching the same thing from a crush of several hundred people, and you are watching it with a glass in your hand from the sea.
