The experience outline

- Step 01
Check-in
Check in at the centre above the bridge, where you are weighed and the figure is written on your hand, which everyone finds funny until it is their turn. Harness, briefing, and then the walk out along the 1880s road bridge to the platform in the middle, which is the longest part of the whole experience.
- Step 02
The Jump
Forty-three metres to the Kawarau river, with the option of touching the water or going in to the shoulders, decided before you jump and not after. The count goes five, four, three, two and then they send you, because nobody ever jumps on one. A few seconds of fall and a long bounce.
- Step 03
Debrief
Back up on the retrieval line, unclipped on the platform, and off the bridge on legs that no longer entirely work. Video and photographs are ready at the centre by the time you have finished shaking, and the deck there is where people who did not jump have been watching all along.
