The route we start from

These are the stages published for this trip. A stage can cover part of a day or several days; it is not a separate travel day.

1. Stage 01

   Arrival

   Land at Male and transfer out to the resort, by speedboat or seaplane depending on which atoll it sits in; seaplanes only fly in daylight, so we book your international arrival to suit. Into the villa, and the first swim is straight off the deck steps into water the children will not believe.

2. Stage 02

   Reef & Club

   A guided family snorkel on the house reef in the morning, which is chosen specifically for being shallow, sheltered and gentle enough for a first time in a mask. Most children go from nervous to unwilling to come out within about forty minutes. The kids' club takes the afternoon.

3. Stage 03

   Island Fun

   Glass-bottom kayaks in the morning, which is the low-effort way to see the reef without anyone putting their face in the water. A dolphin cruise in the late afternoon, when the pods come through on their way out. The spa hour for the parents is booked into the same window as the club.

4. Stage 04

   Free Day

   Nothing scheduled, which on a resort island is the point of the whole exercise: pool, beach, lagoon, repeat, and a marine biology hour for the children if they want it. Half board means lunch is not a logistical problem, which matters more with children than anybody admits.

5. Stage 05

   The Return

   The transfer back to Male and the flight home. Five days in which the hardest decision was which stretch of sand to sit on, and a family who can all now snorkel, which is a thing you can use on every holiday after this one.
