The route we start from

These are the stages published for this trip. A stage can cover part of a day or several days; it is not a separate travel day.

1. Stage 01

   Arrive and rest in Leh

   Stay in Leh and plan no sightseeing or physical exertion. Track the arrival time: two calendar dates alone are not 48 elapsed hours.

2. Stage 02

   Second rest day in Leh

   Keep the day clear in Leh. Do not use the acclimatisation period for an unofficial excursion.

3. Stage 03

   Thiksey, after the rest period

   Only after at least 48 hours and if appropriate, travel to Thiksey. Steps inside a hillside monastery can be demanding; use a shorter visit or remain in Leh when needed. Overnight in Leh.

4. Stage 04

   Hemis from Leh

   Make Hemis a separate out-and-back visit, subject to the monastery's opening arrangements. A festival or monastic audience is not assumed. Return to Leh.

5. Stage 05

   Depart from Leh

   End at Leh airport or the agreed local point. If the group needs a further rest day, change the plan instead of combining the monastery visits.
