Collected in Bir and driven up to the Billing launch, which is fourteen kilometres of hairpins climbing to 2,400 metres and takes about forty minutes. The pilots watch the sky the whole way, because flights here are called on conditions and no operator worth using will launch into the wrong wind.

Harness on, three running steps down the slope, and the ridge drops away. Twenty to thirty minutes airborne depending on the lift, over tea gardens and monastery roofs with the Dhauladhar behind you, and a silence that surprises everyone, because there is no engine and very little wind noise.

Landing at the zone in Bir village, which is a field with a cafe beside it, and the cafe is where everyone goes afterwards to watch the next wing come in. GoPro footage is an add-on, shot on a pole by the pilot, and is ready over chai.
