How much does a Maldives trip cost from India?

Local island, resort or water villa: how do the prices differ?

The three kinds of stay are different holidays, not just different rooms.

Local island, from ₹44,999

Our trip page describes Maafushi as an inhabited island about thirty minutes by speedboat from Malé, with shops, a school and guesthouses. You get the same reefs and sandbanks for a fraction of a resort's price. The trade-offs, from our trip page: alcohol is served only at resorts, swimwear is for the designated beach, and local dress codes apply in the village. A resort day pass is available if you want a pool for an afternoon. For families who don't drink and are happy to dress modestly, these rules change very little.

Resort beach villa, from ₹54,999

A resort usually has its island to itself. You reach it by speedboat or seaplane, depending on the atoll, and our Long Weekend fits three nights around a sandbank picnic and a sunset cruise. It suits a long weekend from Ahmedabad.

Water villa, from ₹94,999

A villa on stilts over the lagoon, with steps down into the water and the house reef off your own deck. The Overwater Honeymoon is the couples' version; the Family Water-Villa Escape picks a resort with a kids' club and a sheltered house reef chosen for first snorkels.

The jump from local island to water villa is about ₹50,000 per person, and you pay it for privacy and the villa itself, not for better sea.

Which Maldives trips include flights from Ahmedabad?

All five, plus the island transfers by speedboat or seaplane. When you compare prices elsewhere, check whether the flights and the transfer from Malé are in the number.

Seaplanes fly only in daylight, so our trip pages ask for an arrival that leaves time for the transfer; arriving at Malé before 3pm IST is ideal.

What do the manta ray and sandbank trips cost?

Half-day tripStartsFrom (per person)IncludedGood to know
Maldives: Swim With Manta Rays08:00₹9,999Boat with a marine guide, mask, fins and vest, marine park fees, water and fruitIn Baa Atoll; for confident swimmers in open water
Maldives: The Sandbank With Nobody On It09:00₹12,999Return speedboat, a sandbank for your group only, grilled lunch, soft drinks, snorkel gear, parasolCancelled and refunded in rough weather

The manta trip goes to a cleaning station in Baa Atoll. Time Out's report of 17 Sep 2025 places Hanifaru Bay in Baa Atoll inside a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and puts the largest manta gatherings there from June to November; at Hanifaru itself only snorkelling is allowed, five boats at a time, for 45 minutes each, with a certified guide. Wild animals keep no timetable, so sightings are likely in season but never guaranteed. No touching, no flash and no swimming above a manta.

For a couple, the manta trip adds ₹19,998 and the sandbank ₹25,998. The sandbank has no shade beyond the parasol, so carry hats and reef-safe sunscreen.

Which taxes and fees are added in the Maldives?

Two Maldivian taxes apply to tourist stays, and the visa needs no pre-approval:

Rupee figures use the market rate of about ₹95 to the dollar on 15 Oct 2026. For a couple, four nights of green tax come to about ₹9,100 at a resort and about ₹4,600 at a guesthouse. Where these taxes apply to your booking, they are shown in your written quote, so you see the full amount before you pay.

Maldives Immigration also asks for a passport valid for at least one month, a confirmed return ticket, a prepaid booking at a registered property and enough money for the stay. On our trips the visa is handled by us where applicable; check the visa terms before booking if you plan on your own.

Which months are calmer, and when does it rain?

The Maldives Meteorological Service describes two monsoons (checked October 2026):

MonthsSeasonWhat it means for a trip
January to MarchNortheast monsoon, the dry seasonThe drier months for beach days and sandbanks
AprilTransitionThe warmest time of year, with March, until mid-May
Mid-May to NovemberSouthwest monsoon, the wet seasonMore rain; the Baa Atoll manta season, June to November, falls inside it
DecemberTransitionBetween the two monsoons; keep a spare day for boat trips

Average temperatures run from 25°C to 32°C all year. Rain also increases from north to south: the southern atolls get about 2,218 mm a year against about 1,779 mm in the north. Boat trips can be cancelled when the sea is rough, so keep one free day on any trip.

What does a couple or a family of four pay?

Multiply the per-person price by the number of travellers. Children's prices depend on age and bed, so we price them in your quote. These totals are before GST, TCS and the Maldivian taxes above.
