The story
Wat Yansangwararam, in full Wat Yanasangwararam Woramahawihan, is a royal temple in Huai Yai subdistrict, Bang Lamung, built in 1976 with King Rama IX as its royal patron. Its grounds hold an international pavilion that mixes architectural styles from around the world, a replica of the Mondop that houses the Buddha's footprint relic beside the pond, and a large stupa holding relics of the Buddha and other Buddhist saints. It opens daily from 8 am to 5 pm (Tourism Authority of Thailand, checked 24 Sep 2026).
Viharn Sien, also called Anek Kuson Sala, is a building in Chinese style, built in 1987, with a museum of Chinese art inside: a large white jade statue of the goddess Guan Yin, statues of warriors and horses from Emperor Qin Shi Huang's tomb, as TAT puts it, and artwork and clayware. It opens daily from 8 am to 5 pm and charges a small entrance fee (Tourism Authority of Thailand, checked 24 Sep 2026).
What it feels like: a change of pace from the beach. At Wat Yan you walk between buildings in different styles, and the footprint shrine by the pond is a moment of stillness. At Viharn Sien the mood turns to China, with rooms of figures and artwork that reward a slow walk. For a family from Ahmedabad used to temple visits at home, it is a familiar kind of devotion in an unfamiliar setting.
Who this suits, and why: seniors and multigenerational families who value temples and history; the school-holiday family who want one cultural morning; couples who like a calm half day away from the beach.
