The story

Not a spa week — a protocol. It starts with a consult with an Ayurvedic physician who maps your week: daily abhyanga massage, shirodhara sessions, steam, sattvic meals built for your constitution, yoga and early nights.

By day four the sleep gets deep; by day seven you understand why people fly across the world for this coastline's medicine.

  1. Arrive on the Kovalam coast and meet the physician, which is the part that makes this different from a spa. A proper consultation establishes your constitution and any current imbalance, and the protocol for the week is written from that rather than chosen from a menu. A light evening meal and an early night.

  2. Days 2–6 settle into a rhythm and the rhythm does the work. Each morning is yoga and pranayama before breakfast, then the day's treatments: daily abhyanga, a synchronised warm-oil massage by two therapists, with two shirodhara sessions across the week where oil is poured in a continuous stream across the forehead. Meals are sattvic, vegetarian and prepared to your protocol rather than a buffet. Afternoons are rest, which is prescribed rather than optional, and the phone-optional culture of the place makes that far easier than it sounds at home. Most people spend the first two days fighting the pace and the remaining three grateful for it.

  3. An exit consultation with the physician, a home-care plan covering diet, routine and any preparations to continue with, and the flight home. Six nights, a nervous system returned to something like factory settings, and a sleep pattern that will hold for months if you let it.

Refunds are processed to the original payment method within 7 working days of approval.
