The story
The train climbs into the Eiger and comes out the other side at 3,454 metres, which is higher than most people have been without a plane.
At the top there is an ice palace cut into the glacier, a plateau you can walk out onto, and the Aletsch — the longest glacier in the Alps — running away below you. Take the whole day and do not rush it.
What happens
The plan as the operator runs it. Start times and pickup are confirmed for your date.
-
Train from Interlaken Ost via Grindelwald or Lauterbrunnen, up through the mountain, three to four hours at the top, back by late afternoon.
