The route we start from

These are the stages published for this trip. A stage can cover part of a day or several days; it is not a separate travel day.

1. Stage 01

   Arrival

   Land and drive south, about an hour, which is the whole trick of South Goa: the crowds thin at the halfway mark and do not come back. Palolem is a crescent of sand with huts on it rather than hotels behind a road. Sunset on arrival, because the beach faces the right way.

2. Stage 02

   Palolem

   A kayak out of Palolem in the morning, which is flat water inside the bay and a reasonable chance of dolphins just beyond it. Beach yoga at first light if you want it, most places on the sand run a class. The rest of the day is horizontal.

3. Stage 03

   Cola & Agonda

   Cola beach, which has a freshwater lagoon meeting the sea behind it and is reached by a rough track that keeps the numbers down. Agonda in the afternoon, longer and quieter than Palolem, where olive ridley turtles nest on a protected stretch in season.

4. Stage 04

   Spice & Slow

   A spice plantation inland for lunch, which is a real working farm rather than a show, with cardamom and pepper growing on the same vines and a meal served on a banana leaf. The afternoon is a hammock, which is the correct use of it.

5. Stage 05

   The Return

   A slow last morning and the transfer home. Four nights in the half of Goa that goes quiet at ten, which is either the wrong holiday or exactly the one you needed.
