The story
The Kandy–Ella line is the reason people put Sri Lanka on a list. Second class, windows down, doors open, tea estates going past at a speed that lets you look at them properly.
Nine Arch is the bridge everybody photographs — a stone viaduct in the jungle, its nine arches built during the First World War when the steel earmarked for it was requisitioned, so they used rock and brick and cement and it has held for a century.
