The story

Xclusive Yachts runs a shared dinner cruise from its own pontoon, Xclusive Marina, which sits behind Al Majara Towers in Dubai Marina. Its page lists the dinner cruise at 8:30 pm daily, for an hour and a half, with an international buffet dinner, drinks and a DJ, and a table kept for your party alone rather than shared with strangers. The upper deck is available at extra cost when there is space. The operator sells two tickets: the regular dinner cruise, and an Xclusive Christmas cruise. Neither includes a transfer; you reach the marina by metro, taxi or car.

What it feels like: you walk down between the Marina towers in the warm evening, board, and find your table while the boat is still tied up. Then it slides out along the Marina's channel, the towers lit on both sides and their reflections breaking up in the wake, with music playing and the buffet open.
