The story

The Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) is a 545-hectare research forest and botanic garden at Kepong, on the edge of Kuala Lumpur. Its own site names the Forest Skywalk as the current version of the aerial walkway that the operator still calls the Canopy Walkway: 11 towers and 8 bridges, between 18 and 50 metres high, running 250 metres in total, reached by an easy 100-metre walk from the Forest Skywalk office, with the loop itself taking 30 to 40 minutes (frim.gov.my, checked 26 Sep 2026). FRIM's own rules set a minimum age of 7 for the Skywalk and 13 for its 50-metre tower, and it runs between 8.30 am and 3.30 pm, Saturday to Thursday, closed on Fridays. The operator's tour pairs the Skywalk with a guided hike through FRIM's forest trails, with a shared transfer, about 4 hours in total.

What it feels like: a walk that trades the ground for a few stretches in the air, across the Skywalk's towers and bridges, with the 50-metre tower its highest point. The rest of the visit is on FRIM's own trails at ground level, through the research forest.

Who this suits, and why: families with children aged 7 and up, since that is FRIM's own minimum age for the Skywalk; and couples and friends wanting a forest walk close to the city rather than a full-day trek. It is not suitable for anyone with a serious fear of heights, given the towers on the Skywalk section.
