The story

The operator arranges this as a Private Bespoke Dinner: a dinner set up for two people only, in one of three styles, which the operator names Arabic, Romantic and Modern. You can add shisha, a birthday cake, or entertainment, one show or two. The operator gives the Arabic setup about five hours and gives no duration for the others. It does not say where the dinner is laid, what is served or what the entertainment is, so your captain reads the operator's voucher to you and confirms all of it in writing before you pay.

What it feels like: this is not a restaurant booking. The point of a bespoke dinner is that the table, the setting and the evening are arranged for the two of you and nobody else, and that you arrive to find it ready. For a couple from Ahmedabad on a honeymoon or a milestone anniversary, it is the evening of the trip that is about each other rather than about Dubai, and the one the photographs are taken for. Choose the setting that fits the two of you, and settle the details with your captain: the place, the menu (vegetarian or Jain, if that matters to you), and what the add-ons bring.

Who this suits: honeymooners and the couple's anniversary escape first, since every setup is priced for two; the luxury traveller marking a birthday or a milestone, with the cake add-on; and a couple planning a surprise, who should tell the captain everything they want in advance. It is not for groups or families: the operator prices it for two.

What happens

The plan as the operator runs it. Start times and pickup are confirmed for your date.

  1. Your captain confirms with the operator the venue, the menu, the start time and any add-ons, and tells you how to get there: the operator lists the dinner without a transfer.

  2. A table and setting prepared for the two of you in the style you chose, and dinner as the operator's voucher sets out.

  3. If you booked them: shisha, a birthday cake, or one or two entertainment shows during the evening.
