The story
This is the short, daytime version of the desert safari. The operator lists it at three hours with hotel transfers, in a vehicle shared with other guests or a private one for your group, and there are two options: the morning safari on its own, or the same morning with a ride on a 200 cc Polaris machine on a set circuit beside the camp. Morning desert safaris in Dubai are built around a 4x4 drive over the dunes; Dubai Tourism's own pass describes one such tour (run by another operator) with a pickup in a 4x4, about 45 minutes out to the red dunes at Lahbab, dune driving, sandboarding, a short camel ride and cold drinks, tea, coffee and dates in the shade. The operator does not list its own programme, so your captain reads the voucher to you before you pay.
How it differs from our evening safari: this one is in the morning and short, the sheet mentions no meal and no shows, and you are back at your hotel with the afternoon and evening free for the Burj Khalifa, the fountains or a dhow dinner. The evening safari is the six-hour version with sunset, a camp dinner and tanoura and fire shows after dark; if those are what you are imagining, book that one instead.
What it feels like: the city is still waking up when you are collected, and within the hour the towers have gone and there is only sand. If your voucher includes a dune drive, as morning safaris here usually do, it is a fairground ride on sand, steep climbs and sideways slides with the back seat shrieking. In the low morning light the dunes are sharp-edged and orange, the air is still bearable, and the photographs come out clean. On the Polaris option there is a ride on the circuit by the camp, which is the part teenagers will want most; who may drive it is for your captain to confirm.
Who this suits: the friends group and the adventure-led traveller who want the dunes without giving up an evening; the school-holiday family with older children on a short trip; and couples who would rather have dinner in the city than at a camp. It is not for anyone who is pregnant or has a back, neck or heart condition, because the dune drive is rough.

Know before you go
- The operator names the option, the transfer and a three-hour duration, and nothing else. What the morning includes (length of the dune drive, camel ride, sandboarding, drinks) is on the operator voucher; your captain reads it to you before you pay.
- Three hours including hotel transfers is short for a desert trip. Your captain confirms the pickup and drop-off times with the operator so you can plan the rest of the day.
- The dune drive is rough by nature, with steep climbs and drops on loose sand. If anyone is pregnant or has a back, neck or heart condition, tell your captain before you book and ask what the operator can arrange.
- Motion sickness is common on the dunes: sit in front, eat lightly beforehand, and take a tablet if you know you suffer.
- Who may ride the 200 cc Polaris (minimum age, licence, passengers) is not on the operator's list. Your captain asks the operator before you choose that option.
- Wear light clothes and closed shoes you do not mind filling with sand; carry a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and water.
- From May to September the desert is very hot even in the morning; go on the earliest pickup offered.
- The operator carries one rate per option. Your captain asks the operator about child rates before you pay.
- The shared transfer follows a pickup route, so the pickup window is wide and the vehicle may collect other guests after you.
- Availability and the pickup time are confirmed by the operator only when your captain books. The operator can decline a booking if the price has changed or the date is sold out, and you are told before you pay.
- Prices are per person in INR. GST and TCS are shown in your written quote.
